At NJR Hair, we believe that every element counts; we are not into making products just to follow a trend… all of our key ingredients perform their own unique function.

When combined, these ingredients can create a very effective elixir for all hair types, however NJR Hair was primarily created to suit the curly hair market. This is due to my passion for using natural, sustainable ingredients from locally sourced suppliers who are recognised by eco cert standards to ensure there is nothing harmful to either people, animals or our precious planet in these formulations.

I have been cutting curly hair in a dry, free style manner for over 25 years, and during this time have tried many different products looking for suitability… but the best inspiration I ever got was from my curly girl clients who were out there experimenting with all sorts of different combinations.

Hopefully this list will help to explain what makes NJR Hair unique and well suited to all curl types.

Tongariro natural spring water

Unique to the mountains of the North Island, this is a pure spring water that is very stable. It’s excellent for combining with other natural ingredients such as essential oils, as all the heavy minerals and fluoride are not present, so it allows for maximum potency while being residue free and non-harmful to the environment.

Colloidal silver

This is a key ingredient in all of the NJR Hair range. An ancient formulation that ensures bacteria free stability, antiseptic qualities and soothing effects for itchy or sensitive scalps. Often used in hospitals to treat burns victims, colloidal silver is especially good for those with a sensitive or itchy scalp.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Grown from organic sustainable orchards, ACV has also been used for centuries for a wide range of skin, hair and general health issues. It helps to maintain the precious acid mantle of the scalp by returning it to the correct PH level. It also helps to remove product build up and flaky scalp while providing a natural shine to the hair.

Shea butter

Shea butter has a high concentration of fatty acids and vitamins A & E. It’s ideal for maintaining the health and strength of dry, curly hair. It will help to soften course curly hair and helps to repair split damaged ends. Also ideal for coloured hair as well.

White willow bark

This ingredient is primarily used for the scalp, as it is a gentle natural exfoliate. It will look after the scalp while removing scale or oil build up, and will also help to reduce redness or scalp irritation with regular use.
